Kalüün [kɑlyːn] (Fering for “Energi”)

Kalüün [kɑlyːn] (Fering for “Energi”) er et tysk folkemusik band grundlagt i 2012 og som kommer fra øen Föhr. Deres tekster er skrevet på Fering, Føhr-dialekten på det nordfrisiske sprog. Bandet omfatter Dennis Werner (guitar, vokal), hans bror Dirk Werner, der spiller Cajón, Bodhrán og Djembe, Keike Faltings (vokal, violin) og hendes bror Jan Faltings (mandolin Bouzouki, Banjo og vokal).
Deres Debutalbum Spöören (“Footsteps”), som blev udgivet i 2014, blev tildelt prisen for tyske rekordkritikere. Med “Fering Hüs” kom Kalüün på tredjepladsen på listen over sangcharts i Tyskland. In addition to songs sung on Fering, the band plays traditional and contemporary newly arranged dances. Volkert Faltings, the father of Keike and Jan Faltings, studied these dances of Frisian-jütische spillemandsmusik and published them together with Jan Faltings and Dennis Werner in the year 2015 under the title Songs and Dances of Föhr and Amrum. In 2016 they colaborate with the Tønder Kulturskole, and friends from the Danish island of Fanø (Peter Uhrbrand and more) organized a joint workshop entitled “Folk from the West Coast”. A songbook of the same name with traditional and contemporary songs and dances by Föhr and Fanø was published parallel to the workshop. In 2017 Kalüün act as a cultural Ambassador at the Museum of European culture in Berlin.
